$NOW HIRING School Security Guard Mid Level | Expert Level | Jamaica, Compensation: J$460 – J$500 per hour | Full-Time Employment | Registered Firearm Preferred POSITION OVERVIEW A reputable educational institution in St. Ann Jamaica, is seeking highly experienced, licensed Armed Security Guards at the mod and Expert levels to serve as dedicated protectors of students, faculty, staff, and visitors on school grounds. Candidates must hold a valid Firearm Holder's Licence issued by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and carry their registered firearm on duty at all times in accordance with Jamaican law. This is a visible, community-oriented role requiring the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and physical readiness. COMPENSATION BY EXPERIENCE LEVEL (JMD) EXPERIENCE TIER HOURLY RATE (JMD) TYPICAL BACKGROUND Mid Level J$460/hr Experienced armed security or law enforcement; supervisory background; specialised training (e.g., active threat response, CCTV operations, crowd control) Expert / Lead Level J$500/hr 5+ years; retired JCF/JDF officer, lead security role, or documented commendations; proven command-level capability in emergency response PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain a uniformed armed presence at school entry points, buildings, and high-traffic areas throughout the school day, after-hours events, and weekend activities. Control and monitor campus access using physical screening, ID verification, visitor management systems, and CCTV surveillance. Conduct scheduled and unscheduled foot patrols of buildings, car parks, athletic grounds, and the school perimeter to identify and report security risks. Respond rapidly and decisively to emergencies including violent threats, medical incidents, fire, or unauthorised access — liaising directly with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and emergency services. Enforce school safety regulations, de-escalate confrontations among students or visitors, and intervene proportionately to protect life and property. Prepare detailed written incident reports and maintain accurate shift logs in keeping with departmental standards and Jamaican legal requirements. Lead or participate in active threat drills, emergency evacuation planning, and campus-wide safety audits. Mentor and supervise junior security staff (Expert Level); set professional standards for conduct, appearance, and protocol compliance. Build positive, community-centred relationships with students, faculty, parents, and administration. Ensure all firearms and equipment are secured and handled in full compliance with the Firearms Act of Jamaica, JCF guidelines, and institutional use-of-force policy. Attend mandatory training, licensing renewals, and professional development as scheduled. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS Valid Security Guard Licence (PSRA of Jamaica) Minimum 5 years armed security or law enforcement experience 5 CXC passes or equivalent (including English Language) Clean police record — no criminal convictions Valid TRN & NIS documentation Current First Aid / CPR / AED certification Must pass pre-employment drug screening and medical fitness assessment Valid Firearm Holder's Licence (Firearms Act of Jamaica) Registered firearm (proof of registration required) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Retired or active Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) officer experience — or honourably discharged Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) veteran — Honourably Discharged Prior school, university, or campus security experience Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) or de-escalation certification Active threat response training (e.g., ALICE, Run-Hide-Fight) Associate degree or diploma in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or related field CCTV/surveillance system operational experience CORE COMPETENCIES Exceptional situational awareness and threat assessment in dynamic, high-density school environments. Professional communication skills appropriate for a diverse school community — students, parents, faculty, and administration. Sound, independent judgement under pressure, particularly regarding use-of-force decisions in compliance with Jamaican law. Physical fitness sufficient to sustain patrols, emergency response, and physical interventions over a full shift. Proficiency with security technology: access control systems, CCTV, two-way radios, and incident reporting software. Strict confidentiality and compliance with student privacy regulations and institutional data protection policies. Strong command presence combined with a respectful, community-oriented approach. PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS This role requires extended periods of standing, walking, and patrolling across campus grounds in Jamaica's tropical climate, including during periods of heat, rain, and after-hours darkness. The officer must be capable of rapidly transitioning from routine monitoring to high-intensity emergency response. The ability to carry a registered firearm, radio, and full-duty equipment for the duration of a full shift is mandatory.
